Community Mediation Program

Community Mediation Program has historically provided free training the members of hundreds of Baltimore city neighborhood groups, grassroots nonprofits, homeowners associations, youth groups and religious groups.  In addition, CMP trainers have provided 50-hour mediation training to over 600 new mediators in Baltimore city, and provided ongoing advanced skills training to those mediators.  CMP has also entered into to contracts to train the following [partial list of] clients:

q Baltimore City Police Department: inservice training for 2400+ officers and staff.

q Baltimore City Office of the Labor Commissioner: training of 17 mediators and ADR system design across seven Baltimore city government departments.

q St. Frances Academy Community Center Summer Camps

q Baltimore City Office of the Public Defender: mediator training for 20 Baltimore city Public Defenders and conflict resolution training for 1000 staff people statewide.

q The Julie Community Center

q Baltimore City Public School teachers: a seventy-five hour course in conflict de-escalation and positive classroom management, among many other trainings for school staff, administrators, and teachers

q McKim Youth Center

q Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office: mediation demonstrations and referral trainings semi-annually

q Center for Fathers, Families & Workforce Development

q Episcopal Social Ministries: youth conflict resolution trainings at various program locations across Baltimore.

q Greater Baltimore Urban League: one week summer camp in conflict resolution skills and civic leadership.

q Johns Hopkins University: Alternative Spring Break mediator training, created and hosted by the Center for Social Concern.

q Maryland Department of Juvenile Services: staff conflict resolution training, and mediator training and system design for youth in the BCJJC Detention center.

q National Aquarium: new employee training offered annually.

q Office of the People’s Counsel: conflict resolution and “dealing with difficult customers” training.

q Office of Administrative Hearings: mediator training for administrative law judges.

q University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Law: One week mediator training hosted and created by the student ADR club.
